As a follow up to their Fall 13’ Made in the USA New Balance collab, the $100 bill inspired “C-Note,” Cambridge based fashion-retailer, Concepts collided with Diadora for another impressive collaboration, this time inspired by Italy’s pre-Euro currency--Concepts x Diadora N.9000 “Lira.”
We were able to get our hands on a pair and they do not disappoint.
The “Lira” takes on a grey base, mixing in green, blue and red pastels. A perforated toe box and mesh underlays provide great contrast from the suede body, and helps proudly display the wide range of high quality materials used in construction. A holographic Concepts logo--reminiscent of the security-holograms found on dollar bills--is stitched on the tongue.
Hands down, the most impressive detail of the Concepts x Diadora N.9000 “Lira” collab is the insole graphics. Both feature understated Concepts branding, overlaid onto intricate Lire images taken directly from Italy’s original currency. Despite being hidden from view in most circumstances, the elaborate insoles of the N.9000 “Lira” are a symbol of Concept’s commitment to high-quality construction and keen aesthetic sensibilities. By far the most subtle design detail though, is the replacement of the “N.9000” embroidery with “500000,” as a nod to the highest denomination of the Lira.
Overall, the high quality materials used in the Made in Italy N.9000 “Lira” combined with the impressive design and attention to detail from the Concepts team makes for another timeless release.
Look for more collaborations from Concepts and Diadora coming soon.
